Google Cloud offers a model for fixing Google’s product-killing reputation
- inagiledev 5y agoI'm glad this is coming back to bite them on the ass. As a user of reader, inbox, play music and other smaller things mentioned on the killed by Google site, I now avoid new Google products and services if it's not android. For example, when choosing smart heating I went with a competitor to nest because who wants their heating becoming obsolete in a few years?
- runnerup 5y agoToo many people will respond with snark here but I am very glad GCP is tackling this head-on. I’ve always felt the comparison between GCP and google-at-large was quite misleading as I haven’t seen GCP run breaking changes. GCP generally seems super amazing to me as a user of both GCP and AWS. They best complaint I’ve heard so far is that the GUI is slow. I don’t really disagree but I also find the GUI quite intuitive and it provides precise CLI and REST equivalents every time you do something on the GUI. Want to know how to change something? Do it in the GUI and click the little link to see exactly what you just did expressed as a REST API call
