San Francisco might spend $20k per trash can to block garbage scavengers
- Pet_Ant 5y agoTl;dr: actually $3-4k each to replace public garbage cans that homeless et alia dump to look for resources creating a public nuisance. $20k is that cost for the entire program including 3 prototypes spread out per unit. Stupid sensationalistic headline.
- droptablemain 5y agoYes, how dare the homeless create a public nuisance. They should remain quietly in the background so prime residents don't have to acknowledge them.
- Pet_Ant 5y agoThey could pick up after themselves after scavenging. You don’t need a home for that.
- mullen 5y agoWhat is it with the Right Wing that they just can't tell the truth anymore? The article clearly states: "While the prototype is pricey, city officials said the actual replacement cost would be about $3,000 to $4,000 per can, according to the report." However, the headline is some Right Wing Fever Dream of Liberal Damnation that is not close to the truth. Also, what is the Right Wing realistic solution to this problem? As usual, they have none.
- droptablemain 5y agoClickbait headline, yes. But if both the "liberal" and "right-wing" "solutions" to the problem involve spending thousands upon thousands of dollars to inconvenience the many thousands of homeless people their economic and social system has created, then they're both fundamentally wrong.
