The CDC will recommend that some vaccinated people wear masks indoors again
- whw4lkaerg 5y agoFuck Biden! Fuck the CDC! Fuck China! Fuck vaxxers! Fuck maskers! You want a war? Let's have a fucking war.
- meristohm 5y agoWearing a mask is a little suffering that can help save many others a lot of suffering. I’ll take that for the team (and by team I mean all y’all, whether or not we agree on anything). Edit for curiosity: Why was the CDC so late in recommending masks against an airborne virus? Given our general unwillingness to risk doing anything we might perceive as “too much” and thus foolish, why did the CDC ever relax the push to wear masks?
- fascists4l1f3 5y agoBullshit. There is no science at all. None. It is pure fascism. - echelon 5y ago100% agree. Unfortunately people are fickle animals and it'll be hard to persuade everyone to go back to the old regime. This also doesn't bode well for the economy. It's a signal that shows we may be in for future lock downs and diminished spending. This virus sucks.
- rsynnott 5y agoOn question 1, there was initial uncertainty about how effective (if at all) masks would be, and fear that if everyone wore masks, they would feel invulnerable and fail to socially distance. Subsequent studies showed that masks were somewhat effective and that they didn't give people a false sense of security. There was even some initial uncertainty about whether covid was airborne. On question two, dunno. It seemed like a bad idea at the time, and most countries didn't do it. 70% of adults here (Ireland) are fully vaccinated, and masks are still mandatory indoors (and that mandate is generally still being obeyed). The only possible reason I can think of was as an incentive for people to get vaccinated.

- aksss 5y agoAs we get deeper into year two, I start thinking that living in a place that necessitates wearing masks may start being evaluated like working in a place that requires a one or two hour commute. To each their own, but… these are life choices (if you can create opportunities to have choices I guess).
