Intel announces a new naming structure for its process nodes and more
- tgsovlerkhgsel 5y agoThe naming structure consists of "Intel" followed by a nanometer-style number down to 3 nm (i.e. "Intel 3"), followed by switching to Anstrom (1 nm = 10 Å), which they will name e.g. "Intel 20A" for what previously would be called 2 nm. As has been repeatedly pointed out, these numbers have long stopped actually being a measurement of structure sizes and should be seen more as abstract marketing labels. There doesn't seem to be a change to the confusing something-lake codenaming that makes it hard to know which of two CPUs is newer if you don't constantly follow the development closely and memorize dozens of codenames.
