They're asking them to interfere LESS so that there's more time for the market to adjust naturally rather than respond to artificial pressure that makes electric more competitive than it is without special favors. It's presented as lobbying, but it more like lobbying against lobbying. Complete, utter bullshit from you. The ICE market is horribly, fantastically warped and subsidized by lack of carbon cost internalization. Actually there are lots of flat out fossil fuel subsidies/tax breaks on top of that too, but massive externalities trump even that. Your "interference" is just the barest most minimal effort to start to right that. If all fossil fuels were made by law carbon neutral (by pricing in the cost of emitting a ton of CO2 at a competitive bid on the price of rapid industrial removal of a ton of CO2), along with any other externalities, then we could talk about stopping other interference to let the Free Market properly work. Toyota is absolutely seeking to slow the shift here and preserve their existing subsidized profits. And they are wrong to do so.

Please, point to me where it is that I advocated that we let the "Free Market work properly." All I did was attempt to present Toyota's argument in a way that they would be more likely to recognize. I haven't made any value judgments on subsidies, or taken any of the positions you are arguing against. If you think that's a constructive way to have dialogue though, by all means continue. You stand very little chance of changing my mind when you don't even take the time to understand what I'm saying before you call it bullshit.
