Is it a mandatory prerequisite, a good-to-have but optional prerequisite, or essentially unrelated? I read Reamde about 8 years before FoDiH. I recognized some of the characters but I had forgotten the details. I never got the feeling I needed to go back and reread it. And I enjoyed FoDiH for its own sake.
