Seems that from an economic perspective the “solution” might be to shorten the length of time that a storefront could be leased by statute - thereby reducing the incentive of landlords to hold out for higher rents if there is more frequent repricing.
- rdtwo 5y agoWhy not just tax empty stores at a ever increasing tax rate. If you can’t fill a property in a year taxes double till you do. They keep doubling till they hit 20% property value or till rented out. Empty stores are a Bligh and should be charged accordingly
