- neolog 5y agoI don't think NASA uses a different technique for developing definitions from other engineers or scientists.
- rufus_foreman 5y agoIt was the FAA, not NASA, and you think there was some groundbreaking discovery by engineers or scientists on the very same day of the Blue Origin flight that led them to change the definition of astronaut? That didn't happen. It was a political change by bureaucrats.
- neolog 5y agoIt was clearly in response to the event, I'm saying it's a reasonable terminology refinement when faced with a new situation.
- rufus_foreman 5y agoWhat new situation did the scientists and engineers suddenly face on July 20?
- neolog 5y agoA bunch of non-crew passengers very publicly went into space which presumably wasn't on their mind when they came up with the definition originally.
- rufus_foreman 5y agoWhat does that have to do with science or engineering?
