- luxurytent 5y agoYouTube is brought up in this video, with its similar algorithm which created rabbit holes for users. For example, leading them down holes of alt-right content. TikTok seems to be able to do this faster, but that may be due to the length of the clips. So, what's different here? It feels like we're talking about the same problem we've faced with YouTube, just through a different medium.
- q-base 5y agoAnecdotal but I am genuinely surprised at how bad YouTube is at recommending relevant videos. There is so much content there and I always end up having to look for things myself. Seen from my perspective it seems way to "narrow-minded" in its selection. As only looking at "others watching this also watched this" not taking the content itself, length or anything else into the equation. I can see how that might lead people down rabbit holes and perhaps it is just me that has a strange aversion to the rabbits the algorithms are trying to feed me :)
