May be that explains why we have crappy software?
Your observation is true. Very rarely employers want to hire a competent (read: expensive and finicky) developer. They would rather have a team (team is good!) of average developers that can work at a moderate pace, generating reliable paychecks for everyone involved.
It's only in a startup, or in a small company where the people who decide have a stake in the game (and/or skin), you might get hired for your actual competence.
so, if you want to work for amason or guugle or appel or phasebook - better learn how to whiteboard.
- giantg2 5y agoYeah, I'll probably be on a performance plan next year because, based on feedback I'm "slow". Yet another feedback I got was that they were surprised by the very thorough analysis I do and the way I am able to articulate it. So slow and finicky.
