K8 is the semi truck of software, great for semi scale things, but often used when a van would just do fine.
- cogman10 5y agoTo me, usefulness is less to do with scale and more to do with number of distinct services. If you have just a single monolith app (such as a wordpress app) then sure, k8s is overkill. Even if you have 1000 instances of that app. It's once you start having something like 20+ distinct services that k8s starts paying for itself.
- lanstin 5y agoEspecially with 10 distinct development teams that all have someone smart enough to crank out some YAML with their specific requirements.
- loudlambda 5y agoKubernetes is an aircraft carrier, where most people just need a skiff.
