San Francisco-based website is a favorite of neo-Nazis to spread hatred
- phendrenad2 5y agoArchive.org doesn't have a way to flag content? I know that they see themselves as an archive of the world's information, but I feel that modern politics will drag them into a YouTube-like existence where they're forced to moderate their content. Certainly the moment someone posts vaccine misinformation on there, they'll come under intense scrutiny.
- bifrost 5y agoI'm fairly certain they won't moderate their content. They (IA) view themselves as a library. Librarians have stood up against book burnings and various other social movements that were popular but later looked down upon.
- bifrost 5y agoI've had a few people send me links to IA hosted content that were hatespeech related, I'm surprised it took this long to get reported on by MSM. We'll see what IA does about this, I know from personal experience that they don't want to modify the content they have. The reality is that people do hate eachother for stupid reasons so archiving that may have value to someone someday. Maybe having a "look at how dumb people were 100 years ago" archive is handy. I don't know if the ADL and other organizations make their archives public but it could possibly be helpful for OSI researchers as well.
