New Shepard can kind of be thought of as a prototype of the second stage to their new (bigger) rocket, New Glenn. Blue Origin is a serious company and New Shepard is greatly overly engineered for joyrides. That's because the goal of Blue Origin and New Shepard is bigger than just space tourism.
