Majority of Unvaccinated Americans Believe Microchips Are in Vaccines

Note that the title "Majority of Unvaccinated Americans Believe Microchips Are in Vaccines" is not exactly what the story says: > One in five Americans believes the US government is using the COVID-19 vaccine to microchip the population That statement is open to interpretation. While some may literally believe that there are microchips in the vaccine (and I am not trying to defend or justify that at all), others may believe the vaccination campaigns do enhance both the various governments' and the industry's ability to enhance tracking of individual information. This belief might be entirely justifiable among, say, undocumented populations, or among people who know people who went to collect a prize and got served etc. It wouldn't be completely off the wall for someone to interpret "to microchip the population" as referring to tracking. The use of the noun as a verb is rather odd: If I were reviewing the survey design before it was conducted, I would have recommended phrasing it as: "The U.S. government is using the COVID-19 vaccine to inject microchips into people." Also, by "majority" they mean 51% think "definitely/probably true" after rounding ("don't know" 16%, "definitely/probably false 34%). Looking at the crosstabs[1]: * It is interesting that incidence of side effects is increasing in income * Incidence of vaccine side effects is greater in the northeast and the west Interestingly, neither the crosstabs[1] nor the toplines[2] actually show the belief in conspiracy theory breakdown by vaccination status. There are a lot of questions in this survey. The most important seems to be that 50% think the country is on the wrong track and 35% think it is generally headed in the right direction with 15% not sure. 3% think the state of the economy is excellent. 45% approve of Biden's handling of the economy. 44% think there is a nonzero chance the moon landings were fake. It is not obvious to me what to make of this, other than to urge readers to check tabulations for surveys with click-bait reporting. - h2odragon 5y ago> Pollsters said that when asked why they will not get the vaccine, 90 percent feared the side effects. so, "side effect", not microchips? > One in five Americans believe that the U.S. government is using the vaccine to plant microchip tracking devices into people, the survey found. I think they had to work hard to select a polling group to get that number that high.
- ksaj 5y agoYet more than 1/5 of Americans carry cell phones that are tracking them. This logic really baffles me. There is no need to implant trackers when we blissfully surround ourselves with them.
- h2odragon 5y agoIt's not a missed point among the paranoid rednecks I know; who also include people who know the numbers on rabies vaccines, for example, and choose to embrace the risk of the vaccine. There's also this huge gap in "antivaxxers are bad!" propaganda about people who had this. I wonder if the "study" had a category for "I had this and don't want a vaccine"
