If a marketing website/blog is not the thing you are selling, it very often does not make sense to host it yourself. Your time and energy is better spent focussing on other things, and paying a separate hosting/marketing company to manage that. I can't say for certain that this is what happened here, and the irony is definitely there, but overall it's not valid to judge a company's reliability on a piece that is not what they are selling, and are likely to not even be managing themselves.
