Consider that for a moment. What does it mean to be fighting wars for a country in which a near majority of the population is unaware that you’re even doing so?
- alexanderdmitri 5y agoMany people would be surprised to learn America has been at war for about 93% of the years its been existence[0]. The Roman empire was at war nearly non-stop for centuries too and with probably varying degrees of public awareness[1]. The real news I think would be an empire that managed to avoid war for any extended period of time w/out declining. If examples of this exist in history, perhaps we can learn from them.
