Induction has immediate response time as well. I use both at home and I don’t think response time is a huge issue.
The two things that stop us from removing the gas all together:
- A few pans that we haven’t replaced with induction compatible ones
- The gas stove came with the house and works OK
If the house hadn’t come with gas induction would be fine with us- works great.

I used an induction stove a few years ago at a short-term vacation rental, and it could only toggle between on/off. If I set it at 50% power, it would cycle between being on and off, rather than staying on 100% of the time but at 50% power. My non-induction electric stove does the same thing. Is this an issue that is solved with higher end models?
- philips 5y agoThe cheap Ikea one we got does have lots of power levels from caramelize onions low to rolling boil high.
