In all honesty, what are we supposed to do? We are the problem… Often when I go into stores these days, I don’t think about what I would enjoy buying, or what I need to buy. I think about how every non-perishable item in the store will soon end up in a landfill somewhere. Then I think about all the other stores up and down the street full of stuff, and I wonder how we can have any chance of living sustainably. It’s overwhelming. We haven’t even identified the systems we need to transition to, to solve this existential crisis. And we aren’t having serious discussions about what to do either.

Combating climate change will not be fair and it will be hard to swallow with no guarantees of a happy ending. We should not be having this "should we be doing something or nah?" attitude. We really have nothing to lose but the lives of our children.
- ipnon 5y agoYou are on the right side of the solution. The problem isn't people such as yourself, or people who do not believe in climate change, the problem is the people in the middle who do not care one way or another. They will not be convinced until their groceries are expensive and pick up trucks need $6 per gallon. The feedback is already starting. We will never see a "naive" planet Earth again, but already the environmental trouble we are causing is being slowly turned into political willpower and economic pain. There's still hope yet.
