How is it not false advertising to call this feature "full" self driving, when from my understanding it can't even drive by itself in a city with a human watching yet?
- cyanydeez 5y agobecause decades of probusiness regulatory neutering makes everyone to nervous to enforce even existing regulations.
- hndamien 5y agoI have been a large defender of Tesla on this front despite the ambiguity with Auto Pilot etc. In this case, I have to agree. The feature they are selling is Full Self Driving, but the capability is not there yet. I think a fair compromise would be FSD (99.99) or FSD (97.02) where they have to declare the estimated intervention rate for the current version. THis is much more honest and transparent and would still allow them to "pre"-sell FSD. At this point it is an aspirational title and not a delivered product - even despite how good it is (and probably worth the money for a long trip).
- cmeacham98 5y agoI'm not that worried about interventions. If FSD was actually "FSD but you have to pay attention" I'd think the name was kinda dumb but significantly less deceptive. According to Tesla's website (https://www.tesla.com/support/autopilot https://www.tesla.com/support/autopilot), however, FSD does not come with "Autosteer on city streets" (it's "coming soon"), so in the city it cannot drive itself with the occasional human intervention. And it's not like city driving is some edge case few people will encounter.
