Policy Options to Eliminate Additional Marine Plastic Litter
- aurizon 5y agoLong line fishing nets litter the floors of all fishing zones. These synthetic nets can last 100 years or more and they steadily entrap and kill fish - which rot or get scavenged away. Natural fiber nets, as used in the old days, soon rotted away. It would be a good idea to outlaw nets that have no biodegrade nature built in. Fishers will hate this - they love the permanent nets and just cut them away as they get word/torn etc = the problem we now have. Chinese fleets are huge offenders here.(as are most other smaller fleet nations)
