That's valid, but I think that operation makes it more of a hazard, however mild, if you leave it powered off when trying to mount the server.
More likely, it's confusing with the server getting mounted with the cover closed, then the person doing this forgets or doesn't understand that it's switched on by default and plugs it in, where it will be immediately powered.
Why not use a less confusing kind of switch, or leave it be with the toggle?
- neilv 5y agoGood points. I should've pointed to an example of other switches, rather than emphasizing an easy mod for the existing switch.
- rainbowzootsuit 5y agoNo worries. I think the server would look boss with airplane plane switch covers. I found a few images of translucent covers and I think that it would render the cover floppy if you were to dremel out the barrier that holds the switch in the off position as there's a pretty large coil spring in there. I looked around some but couldn't find this style cover that didn't have the off-when-closed function too. https://sinolec.co.uk/1348-thickbox_default/translucent-red-toggle-switch-safety-operator-cover.jpg https://sinolec.co.uk/1348-thickbox_default/translucent-red-... https://www.atomsindustries.com/assets/images/items/asd1637/3219_03.jpg https://www.atomsindustries.com/assets/images/items/asd1637/...
