Coronavirus doctor's diary: Unvaccinated patients with many regrets
- rvz 5y agoWell this just in.... [0] [0] https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57874744 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57874744
- kenrien 5y agoThe person in the article is described as "a super-fit 54-year-old", but in the pictures it seems that they are overweight at the very least. Here is a clearer picture: https://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/health/coronavirus/halifax-teachers-plea-for-people-to-get-the-covid-19-jab-3286780 https://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/health/coronavirus/halifax-... not only are they overweight, but I don't know what they are doing at the gym because it isn't bicep curls.
- monkey34 5y agoI believe they are two different people. The "super-fit" individual isn't pictured.
- xwdv 5y agoI know some people whose hubris reached such heights during the pandemic, they believed themselves to somehow be immune to the virus, and boasted about how they never follow any of the best practices or would ever get a vaccine, while denigrating those who were afraid. Eventually some of them caught a crippling case of COVID that may have nearly cost them their lives or perhaps worsened its quality permanently. What did I say? Good.
- ghoward 5y agoWanting bad things to happen to people is almost never a good thing. Also, as one of those aforementioned people, I'm not taking any vaccine because I am at the age to have children, and I don't trust the vaccine to not screw that up.
- ciwolsey 5y agoDon't blame hypothetical children.
- redis_mlc 5y agoAgain, HN acting puerile. Having children is one of the most important considerations in life for many people. The primary motivation for marriage is to have children, which is why evolutionary biology tells men to date younger. Also, from a societal standpoint, reproduction is the most important thing, as seen in fertility crises in Japan, China, and both Western and Eastern Europe. In my case, since my other siblings couldn't have children for various reasons, I stepped up on behalf of my entire family and had one. I have to bear the considerable cost and responsibility, but it made sense from a long-term family standpoint.
- ghoward 5y agoI'm not blaming them. It's an important consideration for me to have children. Also, I'm going to wait until at least the FDA puts the vaccines through the ringer and approves them for general use.
- redis_mlc 5y agoThat's a very good point. If having kids is a really big deal to you, maybe even freeze your sperm now. A female friend of mine who only had vaccine dose 1 of 2 is just recovering from moderately severe delta corona, and I hope she'll still be able to have kids some day. (IVF is not practical in her situation, so freezing eggs was never an option.)

- Sebb767 5y agoAs someone who is still waiting on his second shot because I had no option to get it earlier, this _really_ worries me. It's especially hard to still be extremely careful when most people around are basically back to their normal life.

- xyzzy21 5y agoA lot of the "patients" in the recent UK propaganda push for the jab have been discovered to be actors and not real patients.
- ciwolsey 5y agoQuite a bold claim.
- rualca 5y ago> A lot of the "patients" in the recent UK propaganda push for the jab have been discovered to be actors and not real patients. Your baseless assertion sounds outright lunatic. Do you have any source at all to back your claim?
- guilhas 5y agoI definitely saw that nurse that lied about the pediatric ward being full of children sick with covid. Reported everywhere, even HN, like suddenly it was a fact that it was normal for children to get severely sick and hospitalized
- BeliTsari 5y agoYeah, I'd gotten my first Moderna, Mar 9th. But followed the literature from NEJM, Lancet, U.Penn, BJM for folks who'd had mild D.614G variant Mar '20, delaying my second, awaiting mRNA targetd booster (spike-protein, IgG, etc tests all positive). Inflammatory side-effects had been worse, than the pro-inflammatory cytokine "hijacking" during the actual infection & diagnosis/ imaging of damage has been so cursory, I'd followed Italy, Germany, Israel & Spain; awaiting new vaccines by summer's end?
