Create your own deflation by changing your preferences
- jamestimmins 5y agoIn terms of whether or not religion is deflationary, I suspect it comes to whether you tithe/donate. In the ideal case, it’s inflationary bc it increases over time.

- wizzwizz4 5y agoThis is changing your behaviour, not (really) your preferences.
- pjc50 5y agoThis isn't anything to do with inflation, it's just old-school cost cutting.
- dopylitty 5y agoI’m not sure moving to Nashville makes much sense given the state will be plague central in the near future after having stopped encouraging vaccines for children.
- nicbou 5y agoA more accurate title would be "save money by picking cheap hobbies". I can vouch for this. I picked up hobbies like sketching, bird warching, gardening, cooking, programming and cycling that remained very cheap. Getting better at them does not require spending more. Other hobbies, on the other hand, seem to accept as much money as I can funnel into them: motorcycling and camping are two big ones for me. There's always a piece of gear you want to upgrade. On the other hand they're cheaper than flying and sleeping in hotels. Combined, these hobbies make it possible to have a lot of fun with very little money. This means I can work less and free up more time for those hobbies.
- Engineering-MD 5y agoIs that not also true for cycling? So many people I know purchase so many expensive upgrades for their bikes.
- nicbou 5y agoThis is very optional. I still ride a 100€ bicycle I bought 5 years ago.
