Sadly I can see the attack ads now. Paying for other people's child care? That's socialism! Except you're going to be paying for it either way. Now do you want to pay through taxes which are least proportional to your income, or do you want to pay via increased cost in everyday goods and services, which probably affects you more than someone wealthier? We're in the run up to an election now so lots of extravagant promises being made, we'll see what actually happens when the dust settles.
