I recently wanted to get back into C++ but on closer inspection, found it so thoroughly modern than it didn't really tick the sentimental box I was looking for. So I starting writing C again, and it's been weirdly enjoyable. I still think if I were a young programmer somehow in the position of having to make a career bet on a single language, it'd be Rust. But I'd respect anyone who picked C++.
