Diabetes (a serious diseases that is still increasing)
- NotSwift 5y agoThe number of cases of persons with diabetes has been increasing over several decades. Diabetes has serious consequences for the patients. There should be a lot more attention for this disease. The number of patients with diabetes has been rising everywhere in the last decades. Although we know something about some factors that might explain this, like the rise in obesity, there is no good scientific explanation for what causes it. There are no known treatments to prevent it. Diabetes is a debilitating disease. People with it die sooner and often have a seriously reduced quality of life[0]. Using some Insulin based medicine may help with some of the symptoms, but it is not not always really available to the patients [1]. Diabetes is a serious issue to which we should spend more attention. Especially we need a lot more research on how to prevent it. [0] I know some people that have had parts of their legs amputated because of diabetes. [1] This is true for many people in developing countries, but also for many people in the US.
