Because no one in Canada wants to get vaccinated with it or maybe because US is not recognizing it, so you cannot cross the border even if you are vaccinated with AZ…
- js2 5y ago> Right now, the U.S. government isn't requiring proof of vaccination to travel across its border. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-astrazeneca-travellers-1.6071320 https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-astrazeneca-travell...
- SirLJ 5y agoI do not believe one word the Teflon PM is saying…
- snypher 5y agoYou can check the US embassy but you may not believe them either ;) https://ca.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information-canada-3/ https://ca.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information-canada-3/
- SirLJ 5y agoBlackface, foundation paying his wife and mother hundreds of thousands of dollars for talks, shortly before being given 1 billion government money to distribute, the list goes one and on… Any normal person will be ashamed and resign…
- pkaye 5y agoWhere did you read that US is not recognizing AstraZeneca vaccines?
- msbarnett 5y agoIt’s not actually crossing the border that’s the issue, but stories like this got a lot of attention in Canada: https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/canadians-who-received-astrazeneca-vaccine-excluded-from-seeing-bruce-springsteen-as-broadway-opens-up-1.5475262 https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/canadians-who-received-astrazeneca... (although the theatre has since reversed their stance)
- jonny_eh 5y agoThat story gained so much traction that I totally believe it caused people to turn their nose up at the AZ vaccine.
- SirLJ 5y agoAlso the blood clots and the facts that a lot of countries are limiting the use… looks like Canada is dumping unwanted stuff to the developing world…
- mthoms 5y agoCome on, “dumping”? We can visit Facebook for hyperbolic and paranoid cynicism. Pragmatically speaking, it’s the only vaccine (that Canada has access to) that can be stored and transported in a regular fridge. Logistically it’s the best choice for donating to poorer, undeveloped countries. Sure, it’s slightly higher risk than the others, but it’s a thousand times better than nothing. On a personal note, my 69 year old mother got it and had no problems. The odds of developing problems are astronomically low.
- Tenoke 5y agoI had AZ (both doses) and much preferred it to waiting for something else. The extra risk is miniscule and the extra period of protection likely pays off more than later but slightly higher protection.
- mthoms 5y agoPlease stop repeating falsehoods. This simply isn’t true.
- powerapple 5y agoI don't think people cares so much about US recognition of the vaccine. AZ has been very unpopular to be honest. Many countries are donating AZ away while their vaccination program are still running. But it is still good for poor countries, we don't have much choice anyway.
- zibzab 5y agoAZ have had some issues but it's still 100x better than the Chinese vaccine that barely has any effects (just look at the death rates) and a Russian vaccine where some batches work and some batches cause epilepsy...
- powerapple 5y agoThat's what I said, AZ is still good for poor countries. I don't know if it is better than Chinese one or not, from what I have observed, AZ has side effect issue, and is not offering first tier protection. I am only commenting on AZ, not trying to start a political fight. It would make sense to publish the real world data for all these vaccine, but it would have a bad influence on vaccination. I hope data will be published in the future.
- 908B64B197 5y agoI'm on the fence about letting people choosing non-approved vaccines cross the border. AZ should at least get some sort of certification from the FDA that it offers an adequate immune protection. Might still be unsafe to administer to the American public but good enough to allow in.
