Here's How Ford got F-150 Lightning EV pricing so close to the gasoline truck
- rasz 5y agoby not selling any for at least the next 12 months. Its amazing how cheap you can not sell something.
- johng 5y agoIn regards to electric vehicles, I think Tesla blazed that trail :)
- Andys 5y agoI don't buy it. I think theres a dirty secret that they are using a much cheaper battery with prismatic cells that won't last as many years (or charge cycles) as we've become accustomed to seeing in Tesla batteries. This won't be apparent at first. The warranty is only covering 70% battery capacity retention over 100,000 miles.
- johng 5y agoThere's a good article about it here: https://www.motortrend.com/news/2022-ford-f-150-lightning-battery-tech-cobalt/ https://www.motortrend.com/news/2022-ford-f-150-lightning-ba...
- Andys 5y agoI should add that the model 3 warranty is similar on paper (but the model S/X is 160k miles). Older Tesla's have so far shown to largely outperform this though.
- bryik 5y agoTesla's standard range Model 3 warranty is not just "similar", it is equivalent to Ford's: "8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, with minimum 70% retention of Battery capacity over the warranty period." https://www.tesla.com/support/vehicle-warranty https://www.tesla.com/support/vehicle-warranty
- chrisseaton 5y ago> only covering 70% battery capacity retention over 100,000 miles 100,000 miles is a pretty standard warranty for a car isn't it? And 70% doesn't sound amazing but your car will still be useful like that.
- Andys 5y agoI think the battery performance will fall off a cliff rapidly. The graph over time will behave more like the nissan leaf than a Tesla.
