Thank you for sharing this nifty work of yours. I wonder if it's possible to give a score based on all-year-round and a few specific criteria that the user care about.
For example, I personally found that I'm the most comfortable when the temperature is 23-26 C and humidity around 30-40%. If I could search for cities in the US which meets the above criteria (temperature and humidity) for as many month as possible in a year, that'd be a very useful addition to this already-impressive work.
Again, this is just a suggestion in case you pick this up again to develop more features. :) Thank you for sharing.
- anm89 5y agoMuch appreciated! The issue with this app is that because there is so much underlying data, doing anything that isn't automated becomes a major chore very quickly. All of the underlying data was automatically scraped, and then automatically scored. I agree there is absolutely way more you could do with this data set. The subjectivity of the scoring system is definitely one thing that would be nice to remove to some degree. Unfortunately when i put it up I didn't get much of a response so I didn't ever put more time in it after the initial week I spent developing it. One day when things quiet down I'd like to come back to it. The source is private for now but if by any chance you wanted to add functionality I'd be happy to give you access to the repo. It's a rails app.
