What scheduling conflict could you possibly have that’s more important than your planned spaceflight? It’s also a bit odd they make no mention of how this young man was selected as the buyer’s alternate.

    Yes, it’s very unclear. Is the original buyer paying for this teenager too? Or was he was a separate bidder, perhaps the runner-up?

      He was one of the runner-ups. His father owns an investment firm.

    The young man was 'selected' by daddy, who bought the seat as the runner-up in the auction.
