If this is what you're interested in. Figure out what it is that you want to do specifically. Move to LA or Vancouver and get a job as a PA. Take whatever you can get. Show up early. Go home late. Bust your ass. Get in with the trade that you're interested in. Make nice with those people.
- jiscariot 5y agoOr go the Jim Jarmusch route--take the scholarship/loans and use them to create a film, later getting an honorary degree from the university: "The degree along with $1.75 can buy you a cup of coffee.”
- rednerrus 5y agoIt's even easier today. You can get a camera that you could shoot a feature film with for $200 used. You can buy a lighting rig on Amazon for $100. The amount of processing power and tools available in your phone are unbelievable compared to 15 years ago. Plus distribution is ubiquitous. There are an endless number of youtube channels that run circles around classes I took in film school.
