Ask HN: What business course is recommended to manage a multi-million $ company?
This is for someone who is very experienced and technically proficient, and with hard-work and enterprise has worked all the way to the top. The person was asked last year to manage and grow the whole multi-million dollar fashion retail vertical and has been given a free hand on everything (except finance that the parent company wants an MBA to handle). The person now feels a bit lost and overwhelmed in the world of Excel, reports and charts and feels their performance is not upto par because of the high learning curve in keeping up with corporate jargons.
- brudgers 5y agoDelegation 101? Hire people you trust and get the high level bit from them.
- webmobdev 5y agoThat is a given, and most people don't rise to the top if they don't know how to delegate. What I am asking is about business courses in college for experienced professionals to get a firm grounding on running a multi-national corporate.
- brudgers 5y agoI don’t think there’s a college course. Who would teach it and who would vet enrollment for the people who can apply it? A good executive coach might be an option. Finding a mentor might be even better.
- webmobdev 5y agoI found it - it's called "Executive MBA" and many of the top business schools offer it.
