They're tending towards more technical subjects, and even within the technical subjects, there's a lot of genuine criticism of poor teaching.
In my engineering state school, I've heard of quite a lot of pressure from the administration because the main sentiment about the school is "poor technical value".
The significantly rich are the ones who send their kids to art programs. But the upper middle class in China, Korea, Japan, India and Vietnam are increasingly sending their kids overseas for graduate education. For them, a return on the investment is incredibly important. Especially since they have the option of sending their child to Canada or the UK instead. So you see everything tending towards the technical subjects instead of the non-technical subjects with "poor returns".
