Honestly I don't even get what the author is getting at. You don't block a entire domain because a mail, missing DKIM/SPF record, has a FROM: header of a domain, and is scammy, you mark the IP address of the forwarder as scammy.
Infact my email forwarder doesn't even change the from header, all gmail sees is mail from my forwarder's IP address, (which I have manually marked as trusted) from scammer to my mail. Ofc this means my forwarding service has low deliverability, But I don't use it for sending outgoing mail.
- geocrasher 5y agoWhat I'm getting at is this: If you forward an email from y our personal domain to another provider, every email you get that is spam is re-sent to the forwarded address, and that provider will see your FROM address as being the source of the spam, and it will cause mail deliverability issues for forwarded mail. I've seen it over, and over, and over again. That's why I wrote it.
- prepend 5y agoWhen I forward, I don’t change the FROM address, I keep it intact. It’s not a literal email forward with “FWD:” in the subject line. It just replaces the To: and sends it to the new address. Maybe you have your forwarding set up incorrectly, but with the forwarding I set up through cpanel, this isn’t an issue. This is one of the funny things about the email spec is that the FROM field can be set to anything, so it’s really handy for forwarding.
