I’ve seen several physics majors hired as software engineers.
- literallyaduck 5y agoThey have the momentum.
- coupdejarnac 5y agoPhysics is a pretty solid foundation for any stem related profession.
- spicybright 5y agomhm. I often find people underestimate what learning something like physics can do for career prospects. Logical system thinking applies outside the domain of physics.
- whimsicalism 5y agoAnecdotally, it's pretty much the most common major among top software engineers after CS and Applied Math.
- chrisseaton 5y agoOk? Are you saying that's a good thing or a bad thing?

- aetherspawn 5y agoYes, we hired a math major as a programmer and he was super useful on the team since we could throw him massive control theory equations and ask him to fix them (we design ECU firmware).
- WalterBright 5y agoHaha, many of the finest software engineers were trained as physicists, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, etc.
