Minimum two large monitors, say, 24in 1920 x 1200. Preferably three. This, in my opinion, enhances productivity far more than the difference between a 3GHz and 4GHz machine. That said...fast is good...faster is better...ridiculously fast is just fine! All of our workstations have a minimum of two monitors, some three. A few are overclocked and use fluid cooling to keep them from going up in flames.
