Plane Food Simulator 2021
- underseacables 5y ago* does not work on iOS
- sheepandram 5y agoSorry about that :( we're a 2-person dev team and concentrating on desktop WebGL for the time being! That being said it'd be fun to get this working on native devices hmmmmmmmm
- deleted 5y ago[deleted]
- throwanem 5y agoGotta keep the endearingly goofy control scheme, though. Maybe with tap and hold instead of left mouse, and device tilt instead of WASD.
- sheepandram 5y agoGreat idea!!
- mackmgg 5y agoWorks on iOS Safari, you just gotta enable WebGL 2.0 (Safari -> Advanced -> Experimental Features) in settings. Of course it requires a mouse/keyboard to be attached for the controls, so it only really works on an iPad.
- underseacables 5y agoOh!! Thank you!!
- smoldesu 5y agoIf the web had an asterisk next to every experience that didn't work in Safari we'd have a crisis on our hands.
- londons_explore 5y agoDidn't figure out the controls without consulting the help menu... Apart from that, pretty fun! 46% of british food eaten...
- sheepandram 5y agoThanks for the feedback!! THE DEVS ARE LISTENING and we made a quick update to (hopefully) make this a bit more obvious :D

- cush 5y agoI miss Flash games :( There used to be thousands of little dumb games and animations like this on the net.
- hypertele-Xii 5y agoThe tools are slowly catching back up to fill the void left by Flash. Not quite there yet, but I'm optimistic about the next 5 years.
- asadlionpk 5y agowhats the current fastest way to make dumb small games like we did with Flash?
- jmkni 5y agoMight be helpful - https://learn.unity.com/tutorial/how-to-publish-for-webgl https://learn.unity.com/tutorial/how-to-publish-for-webgl
- herbst 5y agoThey asked for small and not 100mb overhead ;)
- mysterydip 5y agoPhaser perhaps? http://phaser.io/ http://phaser.io/
- asadlionpk 5y agoI have used phaser. It's the best framework for writing js games quick. But it's not as cool as flash was.
- dubcanada 5y agoI’m not sure why nobody is suggesting the engine that most of itch games use but Love 2D
- Animats 5y agoLeft click and hold doesn't seem to work. Firefox 89.02, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
- londons_explore 5y agoDid you do W A s d at the same time?
- ghostly_s 5y agohow are we supposed to know to do that? I was coming to post that it doesn't work on my system either but I guess it's just poorly documented and unplayable on a laptop.

- devortel 5y agoI had to hold left click while also pressing WASD to control the direction of the food objects. Chrome 91 & Firefox 89 on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
- Animats 5y agoWorks, but is a weird UI.
- spicybright 5y agoSame. Firefox 90, macos catalina
- agloeregrets 5y agoI like the subtle Dr. Who references in UK mode.
- richwater 5y agoClicking and holding doesn't work? Firefox, Windows
- devortel 5y agoI believe you also need to use the WASD keys to move the food objects around while still holding down left click.
- codeulike 5y agoits really weird, but apparently by design. Left click to select the food, then use WASD to move it
- birdyrooster 5y agoweird design is just bad
- k12sosse 5y agoOver the last 10 years "... Simulator 20XX" games have intentionally (notoriously?) had odd (or even downright maddening) control schemes.
- movedx 5y agoLove it! Quick way to get the Japanese food downed: click on the miso soup in the bowl and just hit W. Instant munches everything. Even eats the bowl!!
- ryandrake 5y agoDoes not work on macOS 11.4 / Safari 14.1.1. Click Run Game and nothing happens, even after enabling WebGL 2.0. Suggest listing system requirements.
- jedberg 5y agoIt seems like stuff built with Unity doesn't work in Safari. I always have to copy it to Firefox or Chrome.
- vanchor3 5y agoWorking fine here on macOS 11.4 and Safari 14.1.1, didn't work at first until I enabled WebGL 2.0.
- kalleboo 5y agoWorks for me, but it took ages before it popped up with no kind of progress indication, I thought it didn't work to begin with either
- movedx 5y ago100% - https://imgur.com/a/rVvTvoB https://imgur.com/a/rVvTvoB
- hackz1337 5y agoNever seems to load in Chrome on MacOS :/
- birdyrooster 5y agoclicking and dragging on food didn't do anything, but it looked pretty cool
- slacktide 5y agoNot related to the game, but travel protip: pre-request the “Asian Vegetarian” meal option whenever available. It’s frequently prepared by a local restaurant rather than some giant megaindustrial catering supplier. It could also mean you are eating some cold lentil curry dish for breakfast on Air France, so ymmv. I’d rather have that than microwaved scrambled eggs any day.
- bobsmooth 5y agoCute game.
- khazhoux 5y agoNot related to the game, but we need to talk about tomato juice on airplanes. There is no excuse. It is an abomination, and there is a reason that humans do not consume this red liquid while on terra firma. What causes people to order this at 30,000ft above sea level? Is it some kind of mass delusion, a Tomato-Lady of Fatima apparition? I'm going to be escorted off my next flight in a Donald Duck rage the next time I hear that tomato-scented crack of a V8 can opening.
- ryguytilidie 5y agoAren't they mostly just used for Bloody Mary's? I fly a lot and I've never actually seen anyone order a tomato juice.
- mettamage 5y agoSending this comment to my SO, will reply if she says anything interesting.
- mettamage 5y ago“” <-- quoted from some article by my SO > <-- what my SO said The answer from my SO is: > I just like tomato juice. I sometimes drink it on the ground. I happen to know they have it on the plane and over time I guess you form the association (like popcorn at a cinema). But in terms of why tomato juice specifically may be more popular, I think it may be because certain aspects of your senses are reduced at high altitudes. Tomato juice is often quite high in salt, so has a stronger flavour which may be why people tend to order it. Maybe there’s also another reason? After a Google by querying "tomato juice on a plane" my SO found: “The dry cabin air messes with our odor receptors, and since things taste differently when our sense of smell is impaired—think about eating when you have a cold—food tastes blander on a plane than it does on the ground. That same principle is what makes tomato juice taste better in the air.” > Googling it quickly it seems I am right! I then got the following in my messaging app from my SO: “In 2015, Robin Dando, a physiologist at Cornell, found that exposure to loud noises, like that of a jet engine, dulls sweet flavours but intensifies the umami taste present in tomato juice. “ “Researchers from the Fraunhofer Society found people enjoyed it more on planes because our taste and smell receptors are less sensitive at altitude, which means people enjoy the freshness of the juice without the earthy, mulchy taste.” “It’s more likely there is a psychological basis for the popularity. Choosing a drink on a flight is an unusual situation: you have to decide when the trolley comes to you whether you’re thirsty or not. The beverage is normally free – meaning you want to extract as much value as possible. Tomato juice hits an odd sweet spot: it’s the only drink on the trolly that feels healthy, extravagant and unusual – plus you’ve seen so many other people order it, it becomes a tradition, the same way you eat popcorn at the cinema or hotdogs at a baseball game.” > Source: https://www.google.nl/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/may/12/united-airlines-tomato-juice-planes https://www.google.nl/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle... > Literally what I was saying
- ranguna 5y agoDid we just DDoS itch.io?
- fuckwebdev 5y agoNice Chrome game (I assume). Is there a plan to port it to other platforms in the future?
- sheepandram 5y agoThere is! We initially targeted WebGL for greatest reach and least dev and testing effort (we're only a 2-man team!) That being said provided your browser support WebGL 2.0 you should be able to get this working ok :)
