With all of my children I have had 4 months of paid paternity leave from when they were about a year old. I live in Norway so this is covered by our social welfare system. For me this has been some of the best time of my life becoming much closer with all of my children then I believe I would have otherwise. Being the primary caregiver for a significant amount of time made us more equal when it came to parenting later on to the point where there are really no difference between who can do what. This have given us more flexibility and reduced stress in every day life and it is easier to let the other one take over if you need a break. During the pandemic lockdown we alternated who had the children and who where at work.
