Burning nitroglycerin does not make it explode. Miners used to burn it in their headlamps when they found that it burns with a cleaner flame than the alternatives they had. This was obviously violently opposed to by the mine owners -- less so because of the explosion hazard, and more so because it's way more expensive than lamp oil.
