Euro 2020: Why abuse remains rife on social media
- gcthomas 5y agoI don't see it much on my Mastodon feed, but then comments are moderated by humans there. The title should be the self-answering "Why is so there much abuse on unmoderated social giant behemoth looking to save money by automating what should be done by people?"
- detaro 5y agoIt's impressive how much voices in the UK are putting the blame on social media companies and not on the people saying these things.
- gcthomas 5y agoIf every house in my street got burgled over a month, I'd be knocking on the door of the police, not the burglars. Blame can apply to more than one party at a time, so blame individuals, sure, but also blame those responsible for enabling or encouraging them.
- readflaggedcomm 5y ago>the intention is pretty clear. I read that a lot about what people want deleted, but I don't believe it. When the sosh algos only allow conversation that they expect, like some GPT autosuggest, and hide anything that challenges the machine's idea of the way the world should be, it doesn't seem like it would have much purpose.
