Basically, we have reached equality a long time ago and we needed a new thing to fuel the outrage machine that divides the people. So we invented a new term, shifted the goal posts from equality of opportunities to equality of outcome and here we go again. What's fascinating to me is how quickly we went from denying that we were after equality of outcome to embracing it as the new and only goal. This is a true black belt double think move right there.
