According to the CDC, there were upwards of 5000 people hospitalized a week due to COVID at our peak in the US, and that went on for two full months.[1] Even if you believe US Covid deaths were inflated, cutting it in half is still 300000 deaths in the US alone.
If I take you at your word that 6000 deaths were caused by 330 million doses given, it still seems like a win.

The smallpox vaccine was believed to directly lead to the death of one person per one million people immunized. That would be 330 deaths per 330 million doses, and the smallpox vaccine is widely considered "the most dangerous vaccine." [1] Smallpox is also a more devastating disease, affecting the young and old alike, and causing death in 30% of those infected. [2] If it is true that 6000 deaths resulted from 330 million doses administered, would that not cause the Covid vaccine to supplant the smallpox vaccine as the most dangerous vaccine? I'm curious as to your thoughts on this. - derkster 5y agoWhen it comes to the Covid19 vaccine, we were all being fed fear every day on how the vaccine was rushed, and how some were the first of their kind, untested long-term. And a lot of people decided to take it anyway, because a one percent mortality rate is an unacceptable risk to most. Some quick googling shows that in 1940, there were 235k reported smallpox cases [2] with a world population of 2.3b [1]. 235k * 0.3 mortality rate = 70.5k. 2.3b / 70.5k = 32624. So if you were alive in the year 1940, you had a 1/9787 chance to have smallpox, and a 1/32624 chance to get, and pass away from smallpox. 1/32624 chance to die of smallpox in 1940, versus a 1/500000 (worst case scenario) chance to die of the smallpox vaccine. They can call the vaccine whatever they want. The flaws of any vaccine should be scrutinized under the public eye, but I'll always take the better odds when it comes to risking my life - and I'd assume a lot of us are here today because earlier generations of their own family had similar sentiment towards self-preservation.
