The fact that there isn't price transparency into all procedures at all facilities is a true market failure. Facilities are incentivized to to maintain opaque pricing so they can gouge. My advise is to respond to the bill and let them know you'll only willing to pay $200 and that's all you can afford. Negotiations with these predatory billers go a long way.
