Mirror Your Audience: Four Life Lessons from Performance Artist Marina Abramović
- imwillofficial 5y agoOn googling her, jeez is she into some creepy stuff. I need some eye bleach.
- deregulateMed 5y agoThe article even described "Art" as people potentially sticking pins in her. I have a feeling history will forget this type of art or make it a footnote. Beauty and art will continue without modern/post modern ideas. It sounds like mainstream art has/had a clickbait problem. I'm happy to see Art (not discussed here) is having a resurgence after a decade of 'you need to understand the meaning'.
- starkd 5y agoI don't understand what people see in this. What does this prove? ==>“For the first three months, I place each student at a table with a thousand pieces of white paper and a trash can underneath. Every day they have to sit at the table for several hours and write ideas. They put the ideas they like on the right side of the table; the ones they don’t like, they put in the trash. But we don’t throw out the trash. After three months, I only take the ideas from the trash can. I don’t even look at the ideas they liked. Because the trash can is a treasure trove of things they’re afraid to do.” huh? Maybe they are just bad ideas? For that matter, maybe the good ideas are bad too. But she doesn't even look at them, so how would she even know? Seems a bit presumptuous. Can she read minds or something?
- milankragujevic 5y agoThat's her "thing", she is an eccentric artist who likes to push boundaries of her own body, mind, but also of the public's taste, and the opinions of people on what constitutes art and what is beautiful, disgraceful, shocking. You like her, hate her or are indifferent to her, she does a thing in any case.
- ordu 5y ago> Maybe they are just bad ideas? For that matter, maybe the good ideas are bad too. It doesn't matter to her how good are they. She looked for ideas that people was afraid of. They are students, she teaches them to be not afraid of ideas. To distinguish good ideas from bad ones, I presume, it the next lesson.
- theknocker 5y agoThis is same the lady who was seen eating cadavers with Lady Gaga and other celebrities. Also the purveyor of the "spirit cooking." A lot of her material is openly related to Aleister Crowley, and she is clearly an official or important figure in some of kind of cult for rich celebrities.
