I think building has become a lot more complicated: 4 decades ago, semi face brick buildings with carpets and simple trimmings was common. Now it's plastered walls, with large doubled glazed windows everywhere. Laminate floors. HVAC. Extra insulation to reduce heating costs. And all buildings now need to be wheelchair accessible with lots of ramps, lifts and specialised bathrooms. Result: Specialised workers at very stage, reducing competition and causing delays.
