I've been cutting down on alcohol recently and have been pleasantly surprised by what's available here in the UK. Last time I did this is was mainly Becks Blue and precious little else. Mostly from specialist retailers like Dry Drinker and Wise Bartender, but there's usually something available in supermarkets.
I don't reckon much on some of the offerings from UK brewers: things like Doom Bar, Adnams Ghost Ship and Brewdog's Punk AF just seem thin and with no body.
In the supermarkets, Brooklyn Special Effects is pretty good, and if you like lager then FreeDamm works.
Current online favourites include St.Peter's Without and Harviestoun Wheest from the UK; Force Majeure Tripel and Brugse Zot from Belgium; anything from Insel Brauerei and Nittenau in Germany and Nogne O in Norway.
It’s great to be able to grab a decent beer knowing that I’ll have to drive later.
