I have to say, I don't grok the people who aren't at least intellectually impressed by Satoshi's insight. Anyone could have thought of it in the last 40 years really... all the pieces were there. And it's almost downright obvious in hindsight. But no one did until 2009. A distributed and immutable public ledger by decentralized consensus without trust. It was a stroke of genius. A mathematical miracle, if you will. Perhaps one day we'll find a real-world use for it. (/s?)
- browningstreet 5y agoIt’s overshadowed by all the weirdness of crypto currencies since. The tweets for the various currencies, the constant “I know something you don’t”, the pumping of pie in the sky futures and secret crypto societies… figure that’s the appreciation for what magic Bitcoin and the like are based on. The lack of fundamental real-world use allows for the super magical thinking.
