A motorless vehicle driven solely by wind, goes faster than the wind itself
- alok-g 5y agoThis video discusses the Physics behind it. https://youtu.be/yCsgoLc_fzI https://youtu.be/yCsgoLc_fzI
- kuhewa 5y agowouldn't be shocking to anyone familiar with sailing, and ice/land sailcraft can go several times faster than windspeed without the benefit of any moving parts (besides standing rigging)
- perilunar 5y agoIt's not just faster than the wind, it's downwind faster than the wind. Regular sailcraft cannot do that.
- anotheryou 5y agoOr at least they can't do it perpetually. They can be faster in a turn, keeping momentum and in theory material science is the only thing keeping it from doing enough turns shooting downwind fast to be fasten on average too.
