Puget Systems popularized the concept of the submerged water computer/aquarium computer. They released a video showing a proof of concept, but it had an obvious design flaw. Shortly after they released that video, a patent firm patented the same thing, but with the design flaw fixed. Some time later puget sound announced version 1 of their fish tank computer, obvious design flaw fixed, only to get forced into discontinuing it because of said patent. So i'd say yes.
