This is because the UI/UX of a 2021 website/app is far more involved and complicated than that of a 2001 website/app. Product cohesion and well thought out human psychology levers are very important in products of today.
I long for the days of building a simple site for my company. No fancy wizards, bifurcating flow, or complex animations. I unfortunately don’t think we’re going back to that time though.
- coding123 5y agoNot necessarily. Look at the site we're on. They don't monetize, but I bet if they did it would make millions per year.
- AnIdiotOnTheNet 5y agoIf they monetized they'd cease being simple because it'd be less profitable than implementing user-hostile "engagement" practices.
